Aluminum Siding

Aluminum siding is similar in appearance to vinyl in that it is made in sheets that fit together by overlapping and locking each panel onto the one below it and can be produced in a wide variety of different finishes. It will not rot and is not vulnerable to blistering in extremely hot weather.  A primary complaint against aluminum siding is that it dents easily, however it offers higher energy efficiency than vinyl siding, and insulated panels are avilable for additional energy efficiency.

Cement Siding

Cement siding commonly has the look of wood siding; it can be manufactured in a variety of profiles. In all cases, it is a cost effective and low maintenance finish that is resistant to termites and fire, will not rot, buckle or warp, and holds paint for several years longer than conventional wood siding. This durable material outperforms many of its siding competitors in a range of climates. A common manufacturer of cement siding is James Hardie; also known as Hardie Plank.

Hardboard Siding

Hardboard is the most popular siding material and has been used longer than other types of siding material. Because of the lumber look style, hardboard siding can be a cheaper and simple replacement to the more costly real lumber siding. It is available in a variety of styles, has a better wood look than vinyl or aluminum and is easily installed. Due to the limited life span of hardboard, when it comes time to replace it, cement board is similar to in price and is a much better product.

Vinyl Siding

Vinyl siding has been around since the early 1960s and is the most commonly used siding in new home construction. Advancements in the technology of manufacturing during the past decade have produced great results including improved strength and weather resistance.
